Take this,” he said.

Silly little humans with silly little human needs. The need to escape their insignificant lives. Persephone should know a little something about escapism. Gently holding out her hand she let the puny human man place a little pill in the centre of her hand. She looked at it in amusement. Humans have a strange way of doing things. The man beside her threw his head back, popping the pill and swallowing. Without a second thought she followed suit. Persephone had never tried human methods of inebriation. She watched as the man ran from her and waded into the water. From her vantage point by the beach, under a canopy of trees, she felt safe. For now. She had created these pockets of time that she used to sneak off from the underworld onto earth. Just to feel like she had some autonomy. That man could suffocate her with his attention. Hades and his abandonment issues had lead him to becoming quite the tyrant. The very thought brought a tight constricting feeling to her throat.

Persephone lay back looking up into the canopy. Time works differently for a Goddess. All the moments melded together making it harder to distinguish. A gentle hum rang from her body emanating from her solar plexus. Slowly the sensation expanded reaching its tendrils out into her limbs. Persephone released a long breath closing her eyes. The leaves twigs and sand beneath her welcomed her. There, she felt mother nature’s embrace. The trees rustled in amusement, ready to witness. Overhead Persephone would head the branches shaking in the wind. Beneath her families of tree folk spread the word that Persephone had arrived. The forest behind her came alive. She dug each hand deep into the earth on either side of her. She syphoned this energy vibrating through her into the earth beneath her. Slowly, she let herself unfurl, changing form. Waves of pleasure began to wash over her. The salty smell of the ocean mere metres away, the earth beneath her fingertips, the vines slowly wrapping themselves around her arms and legs gave her a feeling of ecstasy beyond human comprehension. Behind the lids, her eyes rolled to the back of her head.

Silly little humans. Silly little human activities. Very…silly. Birds sang songs of praise for the Goddess who shares her joy. For the Goddess who graces the earthly plane, not to destroy but to rejoice. To become one with all that is physical and tangible. That which gods have no need. The vines reached her breasts as though to adorn them. She could hear the little human swimming and laughing in the distance, calling her name. Asking her to join him…
