It’s easier to discredit true power, because true power doesn’t yield. Pressure makes a diamond, and I’m here to tell you, that we have a diamond in Miley Cyrus. Miley was born with Taurus rising on the Eastern horizon. This Taurus Rising, means she radiates groundedness when you meet her. She projects and presents as sensual, practical, feminine and discerning. Taurean energy is slow to open up, and slow to trust so when people first meet Miley, they may project bitchiness onto her. She may intimidate in that quiet, feminine way.

Her chart ruler is therefore Venus, who is located in her 8th house. This means in this life, Miley was born to experience themes to do with; one-on-one deep relational bonds, an intimate relationship to psychology, esoteric topics and taboos. An intimate understanding of power-play, deep transformation in relationships but friction with her Jupiter in Libra 5th house. Meaning these deep relational bonds don’t match the side of her that seeks expansion, fun, romance and faith through romantic and business bonds.

What this means is we may underestimate Miley’s depth when on screen she presents as fun, flirty and experimental – this is a real side of her. What it directly clashes with is Miley’s need for depth and excavation. With her chart ruler in the 8th, we also need to remember themes surrounding; shared resources (like an inheritance, or alimony), death and taxes. The second thing that draws my eye in Miley’s chart is seeing the bulk of the planets in the 3rd quadrant and that Scorpio Stellium in late degrees 6th house. This adds to Miley’s overarching life themes; health routines, work, partnership, contracts, community, philosophy and higher learning.

Miley has a cluster of planets on her Scorpio Descendant. This means she attracts relationships and secretly embodies Scorpionic energy. There may even be some aspects of her Sagittarius Sun she doesn’t own or who get activated when they are mirrored in relationships. Publicly and on the surface, we know Miley presents as a Taurus. What this chart tells us is, in one-on-one romantic and business relationships Miley demands depth because she is deep herself. She ends up attracting intense, obsessive relationships with power play. She was meant to learn and grow through merging with others, transforming through tragedy and emotional bonds that are strong as steel. She is likely someone you can underestimate from afar because Taurus is a lot more surface-level than her sister sign Scorpio. Once she gets you alone, the power shifts in her favour.

Now that we have set the stage, let’s get into the meat and potatoes. Miley’s Sun is 1 degree in Sagittarius, giving her a powerful, vivacious lifeforce. She is naturally expansive, philosophical, open-minded and optimistic. With her Sun in the 7th house, Miley’s nature is to find purpose through one-on-one relationships. I emphasise one-on-one as Astrology does distinguish between that and relationships to the self or to the wider community. The Sun is Conjunct to Mercury, the Moon and Pluto (All in Scorpio, 6th house). This tells me that Miley is naturally expressive, intellectual, deeply investigative, deeply esoteric and possibly spiritual.

Miley is likely very psychically gifted, those gifts likely hail from her mother’s side of the family. She finds depth in the mundane, in focusing on her health and daily routines. She might be known to focus on her diet and exercise, may be known to overwork or martyrdom through work, powerplays with co-workers, be extremely emotionally intelligent and dominating relationally. Miley is likely someone quite hard-headed with so much Scorpionic energy. She is likely very self-protective, so while we were all panicking in her Bangerz era, she was baring the fruits of her deep emotional labour.

With all that Scorpionic energy she transforms not just through emotions but through sexuality. Each layer of her sexual expression over the years, has been evidence of deeper shadow work and self-realisation. Where other people and other signs may shy away from the taboo, Scorpio thrives and grows through the taboo. Watching Miley try and grow out of her Disney-sanctioned image, into her own person was extremely raw and confronting for the public. Yet it was the only way she could have done it. It was the only way she could have communicated the journey she was having.

She was experimenting by being sexually autonomous, then having the gall to express that on the world stage – in a patriarchal world. That takes massive balls. Already Sagittarius women are probably some of the most autonomous and independent in the zodiac. I find Sagittarius Sun celebrities like Miley and dare-I-say Nicki Minaj, are quite open about their sexual autonomy. This is directly against the tenets of religion and patriarchy, which teach that women are merely innocents to be defiled within a societally-approved timeline.

Miley as a child star in Disney – and in a very real way – had to experience control through the realms of sex. Whether by how her sexual expression was controlled contractually, or experiencing being sexualised by the media as a teenager. Miley choosing to sexualise her own image, was more of an outrage than the fact that she was already being sexualised by adults since she was young. This is the modern struggle of womanhood, it’s acceptable to be sexualised but to take control of when and how you are sexualised – is more autonomy than they want women to have.

Miley Cyrus has Venus Conjunct Neptune and Uranus in Capricorn, Venus-Uranus in the 8th house while Neptune is in the 9th. Venus in Capricorn speaks of a mature lover. Someone who requires; depth, practical love, acts of service, deep sensuality and a craving to be loved through transformation. This is not a woman you can enter something light, or something that wouldn’t change you by association. She is also not for the weak, she doesn’t radiate romantic ease, she radiates caution to many but irresistible sexual allure to the few.

Men and women likely can sense her depth and magnetism from just her eyes alone. Add Uranus to the 8th house mix, and we are looking at someone deeply independent if not a little rebellious within deep bonds. Bonds like marriage. She’s capable of monogamy, but needs it to feel freeing not like bondage. Neptune in the 9th house within this Conjunction adds freedom seeking, higher learning likely in the realms of philosophy and spirituality. She is drawn to international culture, artistic escapism and romantic idealism. She may fall in love with the illusion of depth in others, depth that is actually something she possesses.

This three-way Conjunction is directly Opposite Jupiter in Libra in the 5th house. This means her idealistic, deep emotional, deep sensual, yet oddly independent nature in love see-saws with the side of her that wants to expands through light romance, flirting, travelling in beautiful places and craves doing life with another. It’s a tug of war for her between romantic, soul-bonded depth and light, classic romantic harmony. If anyone approached Miley, thinking they were dealing with someone who would elevate the vibes, they get that aspect of her then are dragged into raw reality, intellectual and spiritual depth. Miley has Mars in Cancer in the 3rd house. This tells us that she is multitalented and ambitious. That long-lasting, quiet ambition that just shows up and does the darn thing.

She is driven by emotional resonance to her work, a feeling of protecting her creative expression or even her siblings, she is fuelled to communicate (songwriting, podcast appearances, interviews) to share her views but there is a defensiveness to her communication as well. That Cancer Mars adds to her need for privacy, and resonance within her inner circle. She would be drawn to hard-working, sexy and spiritual women. Likely in men she is attracted to emotional intelligence, quick-wittedness, creativity and soft masculinity. This Cancer Mars in the 3rd is trine the Sun-Moon-Mercury and Pluto Conjunction. Her Mars, the planet of drive, ambition and sex is positively supporting her Sun, which is her identity and vitality. They are both Cardinal and while the Mars is emotional the Sun gives her courage. She’s charismatic when she is emotionally expressive and vulnerable.

Mars is sextile to the Moon-Mercury-Pluto, this relationship tells us that Miley lives and works her truth. What she shares with us verbally about her life and world – whether lyrically or in interviews – is based on her lived transformations as well as deep emotional comfort and based on what she’s gathered through family of origin. Miley is built to be intense, to be perceived as such even though, she may not notice this in herself without it being reflected by other people. Miley has Saturn in Aquarius on the Midheaven, which speaks to boundaries or restrictions as it pertains to work and her public image. Miley’s karmic lesson in this life is to learn to accept that her futuristic thinking, revolutionary ideas are something to be embraced on the public stage.

Accepting that some of the backlash she has received publicly surrounding her career, is because she was too early for other people’s development. She was embodying her values, values that were meant to awaken the collective. That discomfort people have with her self-expression professionally, and her career moves doesn’t acknowledge how much of a fight it has been for her to feel comfortable to be that raw. Imagine trying to be yourself, and having profound ideas and causes you want to stand up for – but people reduce you a single acceptable idea. There’s an energy of people being unable to digest Miley’s multidimensionality. Maybe because of how much certain traits of hers are activated in private settings.

Miley has Jupiter Trine Saturn, she was built with harmony surrounding expansion and restriction. She may be someone who knows exactly when to indulge and when to deny herself. She is likely optimistic, but very grounded. Saturn can bring heaviness at the reality of life, but in this easy-going relationship – I feel that she understands hardship without letting it overwhelm her. She is built for psychological thinking, spiritual thinking and a faith-power framework that is long-lasting.

She is a seeker of knowledge and higher-learning, as such when you hear her express her values – and with all that 6th house energy – know she is transmuting her experiences in real time. She is constantly growing and changing, constantly invested in her personal growth and constantly willing to explain her world-view. Miley Cyrus is a polarising figure, in the same way women who have a talent, depth and don’t defer to men are.

Miley’s confidence in whatever phase of life she is in, is something that would be easier to admire in a man. Know that whatever you think you understand about her, is only the surface of unimaginable depth. Know that she has likely been through unimaginable trauma, possible experiences with death through herself and others – both symbolically and literally. That comes from all that Scorpio Stellium and her chart ruler in the 8th. When Miley sang, ‘I can buy myself flowers’ that was an amazing example of how she transmuted, romantic dependability after having experienced something as raw and life changing as marriage in the public eye.

If Miley Cyrus ever reads this, I want her to know that someone sees beyond her fun, flirty nature to the intellectual, creative and sexual powerhouse that she is. I don’t have to know you directly, or agree with every choice you have made while finding yourself – but I see and acknowledge the grit that it takes to maintain a rather steady career, post child stardom. Look to Miley Cyrus as the archetype of a sleeper-agent, easy to underestimate but would leave you unchanged.

This is a woman who could dominate you with ease, because of her knowing and self-possession. A woman capable of deep bonds (Sun in the 7th,Moon-Pluto in the Scorpio, Venus-Uranus in Capricorn 8th house), flirty devotional romance (Jupiter in Libra 5th house) and protecting whoever and whatever feels like home to her. I hope with this series, I can encourage people to look at others with nuance, and not try and impose your own understanding of the world onto them. To Miley Cyrus, our multi-talented Venusian Poetess of the Underworld.
