The Neo-Nazi’s are chomping at the bit in their bid to assert themselves against perceived injustice. The injustice being, living in a multi-cultural country. This is nothing new or recent. I myself have been observing it over the years, but now I have the will and clarity to discuss this on a public forum. Deep in the underbelly of Melbourne we have a group of rag-tag misfits, fuelled by protein and balaclavas. They call themselves the National Socialist Network (NSN), an ironic name for those who understand the term ‘socialism’. Their latest protest, at the Northland shopping centre a guise for concern for the gang violence perpetuated in that area, and quite possibly Australia as a whole.

Yet, we all know that gangs aren’t the true crux of the problem. The issue is racism. For if the issue is merely about the effects of immigration, then surely people like Thomas Sewell himself (a lead neo-nazi organiser) – would be deported back to his home country of New Zealand. We all know that there is no greater test of one’s masculinity and strength than asserting oneself through offensive hand gestures. ‘Solve Black crime, send them back’ and ‘Australia for the White man, the rest must go’, they chant while clothes inconspicuously. Oh, how I wish their masculinity was brave enough to show its face to the general public.

Allow me to weave a tale, dismantling the folly of this one-dimensional, hateful rhetoric of the severely undereducated. I’ve oft heard the likes of Auspill (a first generation Australian himself) talk about how Australia was conquered, so we don’t need to acknowledge First Nations people. That the genocides were justified as a part of normal war protocol. That the genocides are justified because White people are responsible for the development of this country. It takes a special kind of evil to view the world in such transactional ways, to dehumanise groups of people for one’s own benefit. White supremacists, and right-wing racists to me are a great example of epigenetics. Clearly they are apples who have not fallen very far from the racist, megalomaniac beginnings of their forefathers.

It always amuses me that the leaders of White supremacist movements and talking points are never themselves blonde and blue-eyed per the supposed ‘white ideal’. But I digress. People in the camp I speak are largely uneducated on sociological implications of globalisation and immigration. As can be seen in their unintelligent talking points. It must be so hard to watch non-White immigrants who already speak another mother tongue, move to Australia and make a life for themselves – while the supremacists brainstorm on new ways to express victimhood.

If we are going to talk about a criminal mindset belonging to a group of people, then I would argue that White Australians, particularly those whose families hail from the First Fleet – have no legs to stand on. A country that was started off the backs of criminals, those who manage them and a few wealthy people as I explored in my blog post “The Roots of Harm: An Intersectional History of Domestic Violence in Australia”. This country with its love of misunderstood criminals, but only when they are White bushrangers.

Let’s talk about some prominent gangs in Melbourne predating the mass-emigration of Africans in the 2000’s. Let’s see if this gang mindset is truly not home-grown. In the late 1800’s to early 1900’s we have the Larrikin Push gang in Carlton, a gang comprised of working class Irish-Australians. They were known for their brawling, fighting with knives, fits and theft. They were publicly lambasted for corrupting public morality, as you can imagine. Let’s move to the ’20’s during the Prohibition era. We had the Razor Gangs, the Melbourne portion led by Squizzy Taylor. A notorious gangster, well-explored in Australian media. Again these gangs were a part of the White underbelly. They pushed drugs, they gambled and were incredibly lawless.

Let’s move to the 50’s and 60’s where there is a booming population of Mediterranean and Yugoslav youth, that were heavily targeted and criminalised – rightly and wrongly. With this rise came a similar fear that White Australia has now towards African Youth. As such the media questioned whether these youth were expressing “foreign loyalties” in their gang activity. As with the conversations surrounding gangs, there is never enough talk about the socio-economic implications of this behaviour. There are many studies that show a strong correlation between low socioeconomics and higher levels of crime. This can be corroborated by the Australian Institute of Criminology.

In the case of Mediterranean youth aforementioned, they were dealing with identity crises and discrimination that affected them emotionally while also impacting the family wallet. The reason people in lower socioeconomic households are more likely to commit crime has nothing to do with whether they are good or bad people. It has to do with survival, lack of access, environmental stress and trauma. Now the Western suburbs is where all the immigrants in Melbourne where shoved. It was an industrial area, so of course the wealthy weren’t going to live there. This is why it has a less than stellar reputation and less funding is funnelled onto that side of the river.

In the Western suburbs it is well known that there were Vietnamese gangs in-fighting, then once the African immigrants arrived rivalries arose between the Vietnamese and South Sudanese gangs. I will never advocate for criminal behaviour but let’s be brutally honest about the factors that may affect the violence perpetuated by the South Sudanese community. Sudanese people while not all considered to be dark skinned, many of them are the darkest of many communities that exist on this planet. They are some of the darkest, however I know that there are also South Asian people that exist on that same spectrum of darker skin tone. As such, they are facing; colourism from the Black community as implanted through colonialism, then racism from everyone else for being darker skinned.

While your racist mind might balk at what I am about to say, know that many of us who meet and converse with Sudanese people recognise them for their silent fortitude. I often talk about how Southern Africans are misinterpreted for their silence. Their silence is seen as weak or incompetent – ripe for the pickings. I have often observed this same attitude towards South Sudanese people. But silence does not equate to weakness, and if there is anything I will leave behind in my legacy it will be this lesson.

Sudanese people beside being arguably the most good looking of us humans, are intelligent, eloquent and have strong warrior spirits. Out of the many who have emigrated here – especially out of all the African countries – it is the Sudanese I have found to be the most deserving and honest. They have escaped war with nothing but sheer fortitude. While you may not keep up with African Australian news, I do. Some of the highest ATAR scores in this state have been achieved by Africans, and in particular their community. I speak mainly for them as I believe a great injustice has been done socially to besmirch their name. It ends here.

The social barriers that Sudanese people have to overcome to not only survive but thrive is near insurmountable. I would dare any of these White Supremacists to walk a mile in a Black man’s shoes, and I promise you they wouldn’t make 3 steps. The increase of Black and Brown faces, in a country that their forefathers actively tried to kill, ‘breed out’ and control its Native people – must rouse some intense fear and insecurity. I understand that. Believe me, I do. As a criminologist reporting on the NSN stated, it is not enough to jail White Supremacists for the sieg hail or for hate speech. When they are incarcerated they must also be actively deprogrammed. It is a defect in your coding that tells you that you should call yourself a ‘socialist’ while trying to socially exclude people to gate-keep whiteness, which is a social construct. It is nearly laughable in its absurdity.

Let’s get this straight, there is no empirical evidence that Black people in any Council in Victoria commit more crimes than their White counterparts. And we have known for a while now statistically that, Aboriginal and African Youth and Adults are overrepresented in custody considering the miniscule sizes of each population in comparison. This shouldn’t be new information to you. The Media always sensationalises anything done by people of colour. Politicians cling onto these narratives to lure the simple-minded, banking on your lack of interest in doing any further research – especially when it pertains to a community you don’t feel you belong to.

The amount of news reports of White crime that goes under-reported, underlabelled (are Middle Eastern people the only domestic terrorists or can this be extended to White people) and often soothed-over by the criminal being called ‘mentally ill’. Shockingly mental illness only applies to White criminals, everyone else is a scum of the earth needing to be deported immediately. Men from the NSN are merely a symptom of a greater restless in some pockets of White society. There has always been this deep fear of being outwitted, outnumbered and dare I say it – retaliated against. Is it possible that the Auspills and the Jacob Hersants of the world, are afraid that with enough time they too could be called ‘conquered’ and forced to sing a new traditional national anthem in an Indigenous tongue that far pre-dates their own?

Are the protests of White Supremacists, an example of modern White panic that comes from feeling increasingly uncentred on a Global stage? The Australian culture is so rich because of the very same immigrants that the White Supremacists want to ex-communicate. We know the Chinese came to Australia in droves during the Gold Rush, but do you know they were here way before that too? When I think of the amazing culture we have in this country I think about the amazing coffee culture we inherited from the Italians and Greeks. The Chinese food that may not be authentic, but is well famed out of all the variations that have come from Chinese immigrants worldwide. Can you imagine what Australian cuisine would look like if we deported all the Asian people we have, including anything they brought with them?

I think about the Indigenous knowledge that we so desperately needing to hear more of (such as observing the seasons in a traditional way) and the beauty of the art that we have all acknowledged. In Melbourne, we love our late night drunken kebabs. Do you see these as being a possibility in a world that separates countrymen by race? I myself am Zimbabwean, and while you may not think of Zimbabwe as having contributed to anything that would benefit Australia – Zimbabweans fought under the same banner of the British Empire when we were temporarily called ‘Rhodesia’ by the colonialists. Some of my ancestors may have fought beside yours in the Gallipoli Campaign, an effort to protect to your sovereignty, at our expense.

The more educated you become about the world, and the more you retain knowledge sprinkled with pattern recognition – you realise that we as humans have more similarities than differences. Many of our differences are actually inconsequential, if we have mutual respect. Australia choosing to not police its White society with the same vigour as it does to the other communities, means that real social problems do not get addressed. The social problems White society itself has tried to ignore and has been inherited epigenetically from their forefathers. It is not enough to pay lip service and say you are nothing like them. It is also not enough to hold onto failed empires.

Australia’s decision to appear chill is at the expense of actual progress in this society. Passivity equals complacency. When the Victorian Police choose to kill Black criminals instead of rehabilitating them or bringing them to legal justice, that is spiritual violence. When Victorian Police choose to not police Neo-Nazi’s appropriately or actively work towards rehabilitation, they are failing us as a community. We already know from Scandanavia that a rehabilitative approach to justice reduces recidivism. In Norway, a country with the lowest recidivism rates in the world, has just 20% of it’s prison population reoffend within 2 years. That is massive!

In Norway, Sweden and Finland they are giving their prisoners education, therapy and addiction treatment. That is what commitment to solving social and societal criminality looks like. Not in the sensationalist headlines about “African gangs”. We are sick of awareness without action. I see these headlines of White Supremacist and far-right groups being reported with not enough intelligent, strategic movement to dismantling them. They are doing their little bootcamps in suburbia, unsettling locals but we are viewing it as something to be tolerated. If there was an African or Indigenous gang purporting Black lives over White lives, you best believe we would never hear the end of it. Every Black person would be seen under that brush because White society has the benefit of isolating their bad acts as ‘a few bad apples’ while the rest of us are criminalised by association. White society should be seen with nuance while the remainder of society should be treated with scrutiny and surveillance.

For those new to this blog, I am a spiritualist so I will always speak from a spiritual perspective. The following is my personal perspective not rooted in any statistics. Australia will continue to suffer in covert ways, ways that seem like self-sabotage socially until it decides to integrate Indigenous society into its decision-making. I believe in The Ledger, a spiritual document in the ethers where all our actions are logged and weighed. Australia is in severe spiritual debt. We may be considered a wealthy country but all those cravings people have for more – more out of social sphere – we will not achieve without righting those scales. I firmly believe Australia’s progress in the 2000’s has been amplified by the very immigration that scares racists to death. We are stronger, and living our values more strongly when we reject old British classist, patriarchal ideals.

Whether you head my words or not, know this – you have come to the end of an educational blog post written by the Neo-Nazi’s greatest enemy. An intelligent, eloquent Black woman. I defy all the labels and stereotypes people like them would try and impose upon me. I do so with pride. Black people have never put the amount of effort into centring White people as has been done to us. Where I was born in Zimbabwe we traded with the Chinese, the Persians and even the Portuguese before the Brits came. We have always been open-minded, hence why we didn’t attack White people on sight when they came to colonise. Our ability to live co-mingled with White communities in Western nations is if anything, a proud representation of the values of the ancestors who came before us. We only ask to be treated as human beings with autonomy, but we will never ask for permission to exist. Your ancestors failed to eradicate us of the Global Majority, and that is the way it shall remain.
